Ted Abel, PhD


Dr. Abel is a Professor of Biology and the Director of the Biological Basis of Behavior Program at the University of Pennsylvania. His primary research interest is the study of mouse behavioral genetics. He is particularly interested in using mouse models to identify novel therapeutic approaches to treat cognitive deficits and behavioral alterations in mouse models of autism and other psychiatric disorders. 

He is also active within the autism research community and serves as a member of the Clinical Trials Network Steering Committee of Autism Speaks. In the past, he has been a member of the Board of Directors and Scientific Review Council of Cure Autism Now and the Scientific Advisory Committee of Autism Speaks.
