Eagles Autism Challenge

Thank You for Participating in the Eagles Autism Challenge!

Neither wind nor rain could dampen the spirits of the riders and runner participating in the inaugural Eagles Autism Challenge, held on May 19, 2018 at Lincoln Financial Field. With over 3,000 in attendance, the event raised $2.5 million to support autism research at three beneficiary centers in Philadelphia: Center for Autism Research at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Drexel University, and Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health.

“We are thankful to the entire Philadelphia Eagles organization for their shared passion in calling attention to this important cause,” said Madeline Bell, President and CEO of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in a press release following the event. “When it comes to making breakthroughs, there is strength in numbers. That is why we look forward to this new collaboration with Thomas Jefferson University, Jefferson Health, and Drexel University, that will help fuel tomorrow’s breakthroughs for thousands of children and families affected by autism.”

“We are very grateful to all the individuals, families, runners, riders and organizations who came out in support of CHOP and the Autism Integrated Care Program,” said Robert Schultz, Director of Center for Autism Research at CHOP. “Funds raised in the Eagles Autism Challenge will allow CAR to continue to push the bounds of autism research leading to advancements in our understanding of ASD as well as allow our clinicians at CHOP to continue to provide top rated care and support to children and their families.”

The Eagles Autism Challenge was fully supported by the entire Eagles organization, including players, coaches, alumni, ownership, leadership executives, support staff, Eagles Cheerleaders and mascot SWOOP. Participants were cheered on at the starting line by the Super Bowl Champions, including Carson Wentz, Nick Foles, Zach Ertz, Jason Kelce, Chris Maragos, Mack Hollins, Nelson Agholor, and Rodney McLeod, before heading out to ride in the Wawa Junior 15-Mile Ride, Wawa Shorti 30-Mile Ride, or the Wawa Classic 50-Mile Ride, or run the Five Below family-friendly 5k run/walk.
